Week 11 Term 2 2020

Week 11

Time really is flying this term and in the same breath it feels like the term is never ending. Our awesome little Kakano kiddies are continuing to grow in their independence and are amazingly supportive with their peers. Thank you for your continued support with this growth. 

Reminders:

• Thank you to those families who have returned their mid-year reports. If you still have your child's report at home, please complete the form and return to class on Monday (22nd June).

• If your child is unwell PLEASE keep them at home to help prevent the spread of germs and sickness. We have worked so hard to keep ourselves germ free since coming back to school and we would like to stay that way.

• The RE Art competition closes next week. The theme is Catholic Character (Mary MacKillop, symbols, Jesus, bible, ...). You can use any medium that you want - knit, paint, draw, sculpt…  Have fun!

Literacy Focus:

In writing, we will be looking at how we can make our sentences more interesting. We can use descriptive words and words like ‘because’, ‘so’ and ‘and’ to join ideas.  In reading we will be working on fluency. We need to read smoothly all the way to each full-stop. Reading fluently can help us to understand the text a bit better.

Maths Focus:

We will be continuing with subtraction. You can help by practicing counting backwards from any number 0-50. We also need to use our literacy skills in maths - what words tell us that the problem is subtraction? (Take away, left, gives, …) 

Religious Education

This week we will be doing some follow up work around the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We will be looking into the meanings surrounding Jesus’ heart and the different ways we can continue to show our love for Jesus. We will also be learning about the Holy Eucharist and how the Holy Spirit brings about the presence of Jesus in the church.
