Kakano 3 had a lovely visit to the library on Thursday. Whaea Kay has worked hard to make our library a beautiful and comfortable place to hang out. We found lots of great books - I hope you enjoy reading them together this week. Don't forget to bring them back on Thursday - there are so many other wonderful books to explore in our school library.

Leaders Assembly
Brain Breaks-fruit please!
We will continue with our brain breaks partway through our first block. The children will have milk,
provided by school, and are allowed to grab some fruit from their lunchboxes. The fruit helps them to
re energise their brains to keep working and learning. A little bit of extra fruit packed for our brain breaks
would be a great idea (Hint: they eat more if it's already cut up and ready to grab and go). Please, talk
to your kids about their lunches. Some of our kids have been working so hard that they ate almost all
of their lunch at morning tea time.

Mrs Kusabs
Kakano 3 are a little bit spoilt. We have the wonderful and talented Mrs Kusabs sharing her gifts with
us on Wednesdays. I will still be in the class before school and will pop in and out during the day -
I need those gorgeous Kakano smiles even more on my meeting days. Miss Ryan and Mrs D will also be there to help everyone find their feet. This week, Mrs Kusabs will also be teaching on Tuesday so I can go to a course. I love working with Mrs Kusabs and I know that you will all love her, too.

Golden Time with Mrs T
Today, Mrs T made paper helicopters for Golden Time. We had so much fun flying them off the big kids playground. They spun around really fast and floated to the ground. Mrs D and Miss Ryan made some cool flying things, too. We have had lots of requests to try all of the different activities because all of them looked so cool.
Opening School Mass
This morning we went to church. Kakano 1, 2 and 3 sat with our big buddies from Rooms 1, 2 and 3. We were very respectful and we sang beautifully.
Father said we were all angels. He showed us how to do and angel clap.
There was a blessing for all of the new kids to our St Marys whanau.
There was a special blessing for all of the school staff, too.
We are going to have a wonderful year!

Pretty Parrots - Visual Arts Provocation
Our Kakano children are very creative and fabulous artists. After a quick tutorial and some visual prompts, they created their very own parrot to join our jungle. Pencils, crayons, feathers, wallpaper, glue and scissors were available to help with their creations. The designs are unique and just gorgeous.
