Library

Our Library day is Thursday. Kakano 3 have a very large number of outstanding library books, please, have a good look for them. Kay works really hard to make sure our library is filled with gorgeous books - let's help her out by returning them on time. Thanks.

Bread Tags for Wheelchairs

Thank you to everyone who is sending in their bread bag tags. Keep sending them in. The Young Vinnies are collecting them until the end of term 3. Here is some information about how the bread tags are used.

Bread Tags for Wheelchairs was started in South Africa in 2006 by Mary Honeybun. It is a community program where individuals and organisations collect bread tags, which are sold to a South African plastics moulding company, Zibo. The bread tags are recycled and used in the manufacture of seedling trays. The money raised pays for wheelchairs for the less fortunate which are purchased through a local pharmacy. Currently about 500kg of bread tags are collected a month in South Africa, funding 2-3 wheelchairs.

From our PTA:

  • Gala 2020. This year our awesome community raised a whopping profit of $21, 894.62 This is for the middle school sound system.  Thank you to everyone who helped, sponsored or attended the gala.

  • The PTA AGM meeting will be held on the 29th of July at 7pm in the school staffroom.  Everyone is welcome, drinks and nibbles provided.

  • 'Caring Community' If you or anybody you know are struggling or experiencing a tough time, the PTA’s caring community is available to prepare meals for families in need.  This can include but not limited to, bereavement in the family, financial hardship, health struggles.  We know times are tough and want to support our school whanau.  This is also a confidential service and information is not shared.  Please contact Renee Roberts on 021902530 or email remcleaver@icloud.com

Niksham, for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting him, is a lovely boy from Room 2. It's pretty hard times for this whanau - every small donation will be much appreciated.
